Press Release ... discussion of experts on the sub-regional legal empowerment of the poor

Starting discussion of " experts on sub-regional Legal empowerment of the poor" Launched in the tenth morning, the activities of a panel of experts sub-regional on "Legal Empowerment of the Poor" organized by the Arab Organization for Human Rights in partnership with the United Nations Development Programe in the framework of " the regional project on the promotion of social justice in countries in transition Arabic ", with the participation of 25 experts from the representatives of rights organizations and  defense of social and labor unions and academic centers of Egypt, Sudan, Yemen, Palestine, Syria and Lebanon, in addition to representatives of the ministries of planning, manpower and social solidarity in Egypt.


     The workshop opened by Professor, "Mohammed Fayek," head of the National Council for Human Rights and a member of the Board of Trustees of the Arab Organization for Human Rights and a former Secretary-General, "Alaa Shalabi," Secretary General of the Arab Organization for Human Rights, "Dr. Marwan Abu Samra," team leader of democratic governance regional center UNDP.



     The seminar aims to develop strategies for legal empowerment of the poor, in fact, building on the Arab manual of the legal empowerment of the poor (http://www.aohr.net/?p=4504)and(http://www.sjrcenter.org/media/k2/attachments / 13_10.pdf)   launched by the Arab Organization for Human Rights on the occasion of the World Day of Social Justice in the February 20, 2013, and an extension of the previous efforts, which included the production of a survey on the implementation of legal empowerment of the poor in the Arab region, based on economic and social rights in the year 2010, the regional Workshop extended in the days 15 to 17 January 2012 on a legal empowerment of the poor.


        The seminar also aims to examine ways of networking between different actors and stakeholders in the areas of work of the legal empowerment of the poor in the Arab region, and the adoption of strategies and plans aimed at strengthening the capacities of actors in influencing public policy.

 
        The seminar also reviews social justice resources center, which was established by the organization in the year 2013, which includes an electronic library via the Website WWW.SJRCENTER.ORG to provide diverse resources issues of social justice, particularly legislation studies and experiments, and related with legal empowerment of the poor, and promoting the economic and social development rights, and support the development based on human rights, and the fight against corruption.

 

       In addition to the Centre's work plan for the production of a number of specialized literature, which aims to integrate human rights into public policies, especially in the economic - social, and ensure integration and anti-marginalization and exclusion.
